What are the most common fibroids found in the uterus called?

The most common type of fibroids found in the uterus are interstitial (intramural) myomas. These fibroids originate within the muscular wall of the uterus and can contribute to both enlargement of the uterus and various symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and pressure symptoms.

Interstitial myomas are particularly prevalent because they develop in the area where the muscle tissue of the uterus is most dense, making them more likely to be encountered during evaluations for uterine fibroids. Other types of fibroids, while also relevant, have different characteristics and locations.
